Husqvarna

A traditional Swedish company

Husqvarna AB is a Swedish company that manufactures high-quality power tools for gardening, landscaping and forestry. In addition to chainsaws and lawnmowers, the Husqvarna brand products also include diamond tools and cutting equipment for the construction and stone industries. The company's history dates back to the late 17th century. The Husqvarna Group includes many established brands such as the European market leader Gardena, based in Ulm, as well as Flymo, Klippo, McCulloch, Poulan Pro, WeedEater, Zenoah, Diamant Board and Jonsered. The Husqvarna Group is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. The Husqvarna Group is a public limited company. The main company employs 12,500 people and has annual sales of more than three billion euros.

Husqvarna: a corporate history that is second to none

Husqvarna's corporate history is unique and began as early as 1698, when muskets were manufactured in the town of Husqvarna. The logo still hints at the beginnings today, as it depicts a stylised rifle barrel with a rear sight viewed from the front. From 1872, Husqvarna began to produce cast-iron household appliances and sewing machines. In 1877, the engineer Wilhelm Tham took over the management of the company and the product range was significantly broadened. Soon, first bicycles and later motorbikes were added under the Husqvarna brand name. The Husqvarna Motorcycles factories, founded in 1903, still exist today, but were sold to an Austrian company in the 1980s. In 1918 Husqvarna took over the Swedish company Norrahammar Steelworks and from then on produced boilers and hand lawnmowers. Husqvarna repeatedly caused a stir in the early 20th century with a series of world records. During the Second World War, Husqvarna concentrated mainly on the development and production of household appliances.

Husqvarna Construction acquires Atlas Copco and Dynapac

In 2018, Husqvarna Construction bought divisions of Sweden's Atlas Copco Group, of which, in turn, Swedish engineering company Dynapac had been a part since 2007, manufacturing pavers, rollers, feeders and milling machines. Today, Dynapac is again an independent company and no longer part of Atlas Copco.

Atlas Copco itself is an internationally active Swedish group that manufactures compressor technology, construction technology, mining technology and industrial technology. As a result, Husqvarna Construction has now also been able to secure these business areas. Power generators, mobile air compressors, construction and demolition tools, dewatering pumps and special mobile equipment are marketed worldwide under the Atlas Copco brand.
